01 Aug 16
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Tracks: Education, Grooming Session

Long time grooming educator Melissa Verplank will present the art of reading the blueprint of any dog. You will learn AKC written breed standards, canine anatomy, terminology and structure and how it correlates to the grooming table. In this presentation you will learn how to groom any dog with style and flair. Solid grooming is about being able to read the guidelines and follow those blueprints in the grooming process. You will learn the importance of bones, muscles, skin and fur and how you can use them to your advantage. Groomers and stylists need to know how to interpret breed standards combined with a firm understanding of canine anatomy. Excellent grooming is an art based on a solid foundation, a canine blueprint including anatomy, conformation and structure. We know there are no perfect dogs, yet you can reshape the landscape of any dog by following the guidelines set forth in its blueprint.
