In this panel you’ll hear insights and personal thoughts on the full revision of IEEE Std 1547 which was first published in 2003. 1547 laid the foundation for how distributed energy resources (DER) would change the way the electricity distribution grid is viewed – modernizing the grid to evolve as an interactive two-way delivery system between grid and DER owners. You will hear from the panel’s subject matter experts what they believe the full revision of 1547 will mean for their company and the future of the distribution grid. They will comment on their experiences with DER interconnection, what they see in the full revision of 1547 that provides them confidence that DER can effectively support the grid, and, what they understand as the ongoing issues and concerns that are external to the scope and purpose of 1547 that remain as challenges to high penetration of DER interconnected with the grid.
