Abstract:
With increase in Mobile use and Video consumption models, IP traffic will increase dramatically over the next few years in the Data Centers. Moore’s law continues to push advances in CMOS/ASIC technology used to build the Switches and Routers in the data Centers. It’s becoming clear that the challenges in power dissipation and optical face plate densities will need to be solved by using Silicon Photonics both in smaller form factor pluggable optics and eventually embedded optics. This trend will require major advances in reducing the cost of Silicon Photonics including cost effective volume wafer manufacturing, optical packaging and test.
