Abstract:

A short discussion of what "Operational Efficiency" means in the test environment, how it might be measured, and how it can be improved.

There are serious challenges in measuring "Operational Efficiency" at test due to the impact on most efficiency metrics of test time. Common utilization and OEE metrics don't tell the whole story. And if it cannot be measured effectively, it is very difficult to improve.

It is necessary to develop some sort of operational metrics that are either independent of test time or normalized to test time. Some thoughts on how to do this will be discussed.
