Abstract:
Over the past decade, the mobile phone development has pushed the sensor technology to unprecedented levels. Specifically, the power consumption and the level of integration of sensor functions have improved exponentially from generation to generation. Today’s MEMS sensors, like the Bosch-Sensortec BHI160 SmartHub, integrate ultra-compact sensing elements and dedicated sensor fusion processing to achieve optimal system power consumption. In addition, embedding complex algorithms brings a key advantage: it allows the sensor manufacturer to fully characterize the end-system performance. At Bosch-Sensortec we implemented a new set of methodologies to specify and guarantee the performance of our embedded algorithm, so that our customers can completely rely on it.
Embedded sensor processing is a natural architectural choice for Vital Sensing applications, such as Bio-sensing and Environmental sensing and Bosch-Sensortec offers a Vital Sensors roadmap that brings the system integration to a whole new level. As an example, the Bosch-Sensortec BHV160 is a full system solution for wellness monitoring: it provides continuous, motion-compensated heart rate measurement as well as cardiovascular fitness and stress/recovery metrics. On the environmental sensing side, the Bosch-Sensortec BME680 is a complete hardware and software solution for indoor air quality.
By combining 25 years of sensors expertise with new embedded algorithms, the Bosch-Sensortec roadmap for Vital Sensors drives innovation in the areas of wellness, healthcare and environmental sensing.
