SEMICON West 2016

Next Generation Flexible Health Monitoring Devices (Room North Hall, Room 132)

Developing next generation devices for human performance monitoring is being pursued by organizations as diverse as Apple, Google and Nike to the US military. A complete system will encompass data acquisition, analysis, transmission, interpretation, and archiving in a secure and private manner. Thus, a variety of complex medical, legal, societal, and technical issues will need to be considered to provide a holistic solution. In this session we focus on data collection technology using wearable, flexible non-invasive devices because it is the least mature and most essential to achieving a real time and “real life” activity monitor technology for the general population. Specific challenges range from how to obtain and sample data to making wearable devices comfortable and affordable for consumers. Join with the Nano-Bio Manufacturing Consortium (NBMC) and NextFlex (America's Flexible Hybrid Electronics Manufacturing Institute) to explore R&D and manufacturing strategies for making the next generation of wearable devices.
