Being gifted makes young people different from others in many ways. Add membership in a sexual minority (gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans or questioning) to giftedness, and the differences are compounded — especially since recent societal changes for GLBTQ adults don't always help our youth. What are some of the challenges they face, and what can adults — whether parents, teachers, or community members — do to ensure that the teens they care about are supported? Discussion will include issues of bullying, isolation, and homelessness, as well as resources and advocacy tools. Gifted-GLBTQ adults can also benefit from the information shared.
