Tracks: Technology/Vehicle Systems

J2534 is the regulated standard for performing diagnostics and installing software in onboard light duty vehicle computers. It was originally created for aftermarket shops as a means to repair vehicle emission systems without purchasing the OE scan tools. It was later expanded with Right to Repair to cover full OE diagnostic systems beginning no later than 2018. In order to get the most benefit out of the J2534 tool, there are specific requirements that must be met, procedures that must be followed and you must have the right equipment and computer system.

Attendees will learn:

  • How and why to use the J2534 tool..
  • The differences in J2534 tools and other “VCI” standards.
  • Best practices for module reprogramming.
