After this session, participants will be able to: 1) identify circumstances in which routine toxicology testing may fail to identify a difficult to detect drug or a designer drug in the poisoned patient; 2) communicate effectively with ordering physicians to identify the probable cause of negative toxicology results and decide which further testing should be conducted; 3) understand the analytical challenges in detecting novel psychoactive substances; and 4) set up new drugs of abuse test in the laboratory if possible
