Sensors Expo 2015

Inclination Sensing in High Vibration Environments (Room 102 AB)

11 Jun 15
10:10 AM - 10:50 AM

Tracks: Novel Approaches to Measurement & Detection

This session will discuss the challenges of accurate inclination sensing in high vibration and wide temperature environments, present actual acceleration data from these environments, and discuss best practices to ensure success in recovering inclination related acceleration information from a vibrationally noisy working environment. By attending this session the attendee will learn how to make inclination measurements using acceleration measurements of the earth's gravity and its orientation to the sensor, what the challenges are to accurately determine inclination in a mechanically harsh environment, learn the strengths and weaknesses of different technologies available for sensing inclination, and how to successfully design an inclination sensor based on MEMS accelerometers.
