Where should one use solar photovoltaics for energy harvesting in sensors? This session will look at indoor and outdoor use cases, complete with integration and networking considerations. Solar strips or micro-cells can power devices in buildings, consumer electronics and the environment - to make them more durable, connected and intelligent. In this session, attendees will get: a vibrant review of applications and barriers to adoption in agriculture, botanical gardens, urban infrastructure, landslide detection, smart homes and unwired controllers on the factory floor, a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art in energy harvesting, including sober assessments of organic PV and dye-sensitized solar cells, and a sense of what extra electronics are required to harvest and use the power, and how the power can be stored and used in burst modes.
