Sensors Expo 2015

Enabling Extremely Low Power Communications for the Internet of Things (Room 101 B)

10 Jun 15
2:40 PM - 3:20 PM

Tracks: EH/Power, Energy Harvesting, Energy Harvesting for Wireless Sensor Networks

Extremely low power microcontrollers represent a flexible and cost-effective way to connect a variety of sensors to the Internet of Things (IoT). This session will explore the important aspects of a low-power IoT system, including a demonstration of a low-power microcontroller integrated with a Bluetooth® Smart radio for the communication of real-time sensor data. This session will also demonstrate various design optimizations to show the effect on battery life, such as changing the data rate and utilizing various sleep modes on the microcontroller. The end result is a system that can last several years in the field, without changing batteries.
