Driven by the ever-increasing demand for enhanced automation and efficiency, sensors have become a key component in most of today's home appliances. Sensors for measuring a broad set of parameters such as temperature, humidity, flow rate and pressure have enabled intelligent cleaning and cooking programs that save resources as well as time. This presentation will provide an overview of current and future technical sensor needs for various home appliances. Typical BSH use cases will be reviewed and selected examples of ongoing development activities (internal and external) will be presented. Attendees will understand the particular challenges for home appliances and which next-generation sensor technologies are required for future use cases.
