Have you ever said "I don’t have time to think”? Do you struggle embedding a culture in your organization that thrives on innovation? Are you trying to turn a product- or service-centric organization into a consumer-centric one? Do you want to increase your ability to take smart risks? These are perhaps some of the most common barriers most organizations face in trying to increase their own capacity to innovate.

To address the biggest barriers to being more innovative and creative at work, Duncan Wardle has created an innovation toolkit that takes the mystery out of the design thinking process. The Imagination Emporium is a design thinking toolkit everyone can use on challenges large and small. It combines a series of creative behaviors, lateral thinking tools, and rapid prototyping techniques that are simple to use. During the keynote presentation, discover how to use certain behaviors and tools to get out from under the greatest barrier to innovation — your own expertise, allowing you to think differently and develop revolutionary new ideas.

Duncan is an independent innovation and design thinking consultant. Before opening his consultancy, he was vice president of innovation and creativity for the Walt Disney Company. In that role, he led a team of creative ideation and innovation catalysts who worked across all Disney’s divisions, leading a design thinking process that helped Disney Imagineering, Pixar, the Disney Institute, Disney Cruise Lines, and Lucas Films capture unlikely connections, leading to both fresh thinking and innovative new storylines, products, and services.

Prior to his role as vice president of innovation and creativity, Duncan was vice president of global PR and vice president of international marketing and sales for Disney parks. Over the last two decades Duncan has served in executive roles for the Walt Disney Company in London, Paris, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Mumbai, and, most recently, Shanghai.

In 2008 Duncan was honored with the “Outstanding American Citizen Award" at the White House and in 2014 he was awarded an Hons. MBA from Edinburgh University. He also holds the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, presented by Her Majesty the Queen.
