Due to the number of individuals who believe in the divine, clients will inevitably express this in the counseling process. However, many counselors do not feel equipped to competently engage a client who struggles with spiritual issues or relies on spirituality for support. The ASERVIC Spiritual Competencies will serve as a guideline for this LI, focusing on assisting counselors by addressing diversity-sensitive methods for assessing, engaging, and intervening with clients in the spiritual domain.
