Swagelining Limited (OTC Stand 2465) has been awarded a major contract to apply its newly launched polymer lining system to the water injection riser on the BP Block 31 project offshore Angola.
Swagelining Limited, formed just six months ago, will deliver the integrated lining system for the Single Line Offset Riser which will sit in 2000 metres of water off the West African coast.
The contract award is one of the most significant to date for Swagelining Limited, which brings applied lining solutions to the oil and gas sector. The application is based on the tried and tested British Gas developed technology, successfully deployed in both the onshore and offshore industries for many years and further extended by ongoing research and development by the company.
Swagelining™ technology addresses the industry’s costly issue of internal pipe corrosion, for both new and existing pipelines, which can now be controlled and prevented.
The Block 31 contract has been awarded by Pipeline Technique Ltd who have been commissioned by Heerema Marine Contractor. Through a project specific license provided by Swagelining Ltd, Heerema are delivering the complementary WeldLink® connectors to the project, to enable the lined sections within the riser to be fully welded and the polymer liner anchored and sealed.
Using its own proprietary technology, Swagelining Limited will provide overall project management, including engineering and qualification testing, polymer material specification and procurement, site fabrication and liner insertion. The work will be undertaken on a site managed by Pipeline Technique Limited in Scotland.
