(WASHINGTON, D.C. — May 25, 2018) The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International will offer an extensive educational program and exceptional opportunities for professional development at the 2018 BOMA International Annual Conference & Expo, which takes place June 23-26 in San Antonio.
Designed by leading experts for property professionals of all levels of experience, this year's conference education features more than 40 sessions organized across seven distinct educational focus areas, including the new Technology and Innovation Track. This track will help property professionals sort through the growing number of new technology solutions to leverage the best options for their buildings, optimizing performance and improving tenant engagement.

- Session spotlight: Learn more about the conference’s host city, San Antonio, in “Downtown Building Owners Unite to Make the Business Case for Sustainability.” Panelists in this interactive session will share real-world examples of how building owners in downtown San Antonio are working together to make the business case for sustainability through energy efficiency, water efficiency, data management and tenant engagement in sustainability efforts, as well as how their strategies can be applied to other cities.
Industrial Real Estate Management
- Session spotlight: How prepared is your industrial property or portfolio for a weather emergency? In “Hurricanes, Earthquakes and Snow: How Industrial Properties Prepare,” a panel of property professionals and insurance specialists will discuss real-life experiences in dealing with weather and other emergencies at their industrial properties and how you can be more prepared for potential disasters.
Leadership and Career Development
- Session spotlight: Discover how the leaders of BOMA/San Francisco’s Careers Committee attracted 21 new graduates to property management in 2017 in “Mentorship: Attracting the Next Generation of Talent.” Attendees will hear strategies for getting the first look at the strongest talent, identifying the young leaders of tomorrow, creating a bridge to the next generation and improving retention.
New Technology and Innovation
- Session spotlight: Implementing new building technology can be challenging, but the experiences of early adopters can guide others through the process. In “Adopting New CRE Tech: Real Stories from Innovative Executives,” panelists will share their own experiences with vetting, implementing and managing emerging technologies, as well as the best strategies to upgrade your building.
Tenant Relations and Retention
- Session spotlight: In a changing commercial real estate environment, creativity around the tenant experience is now more important than ever. In “Creating Engaging Properties: Unleashing Creativity for a Better Tenant Experience,”attendees will learn how to improve the experience of both tenants and building visitors by engaging all five senses. An industry expert will provide step-by-step framework to develop a differentiated tenant experience that also can positively impact wellness.
The conference also will feature new Spotlight Sessions, offering special insights into leading effective teams, managing organizational change and building a positive, high-performing work culture.
To make sure attendees get the maximum benefit from their attendance, every session qualifies for ARM, CCM, CPM, FMA, RPA, SMA and SMT, and renewal and continuing professional development credits. Several sessions are approved for LEED credential maintenance and renewal of the Building Operator Certification (BOC). Some sessions also contribute to the requirements for real estate license renewal in many U.S. states and Canada.
