NY NOW® Winter 2018

TULIA’S ARTISAN GALLERY makes their NY NOW debut with Flying Mobiles handmade in Colombia.

Tulia’s Artisan Gallery is proud to offer some of the best artisan products made in Colombia in the highly curated Handmade Global Design section of NY NOW.  The complete line of hand painted flying mobiles are on display in Booth #121 in the River Pavilion Feb 3rd -6th

Tulia’s collection of Flying Mobiles empower women in Colombia.  These unique gifts attract all ages and come in different designs including unicorns, dragons, birds, and even a flying pig! The mobiles provide full-time jobs at a fair living wage for single moms and Afro-Colombians.  Each mobile is painted and constructed by hand.

Tulia’s large Dragon Mobile is competing for the Winter 2018 Best New Product award. The large dragon mobile comes in red, blue, or ice blue.  It is making it’s US debut at NY NOW.  This unique product makes a great gift for dragon fans of all ages.  Award judges for the program will walk the market floor during exhibit hours on Sunday, February 4th to select a winner from each exhibiting section. Winners will be announced before the conclusion of the market at www.nynow.com, as well as via NY NOW’s social media channels and a press release.

Tulia’s Artisan Gallery (Tulias.com) provides a fair trade platform for Colombian artisans to introduce their treasures to a larger audience and a wider market and in the process preserve cultural traditions, contribute to their local economy, and empower their community.  Tulia’s Artisan Gallery is a proud member of Chicago Fair Trade.

Why Colombia?  Colombia has the 2nd largest displacement situation after Syria with over seven million internally displaced.  Indigenous and Afro-Colombians are disproportionally affected by this displacement.  Colombia is rich in native cultures and traditions with nearly 100 indigenous groups.  Approximately one-third of these native tribes are at risk of cultural extinction.
