Automobile press line with FEEDERplus Automation System

The FEEDERplus from STROTHMANN, a linear robot system with additional rotating axes which can orient blanks during transfer, has already attracted a great deal of attention in many markets. It tops even the conventional six-axes-robot in press automation applications, in terms of speed as well as flexibility.

STROTHMANN’s linear robot concept has been proven in many Tandem Press lines to date. For applications with large parts, fast production lines, and small or large gaps between the presses, this feeder automation concept is an attractive solution.

FEEDERplus is a linear robot system which, in addition to its standard linear axes, can perform rotary motions in the b axis, the orienting axis of the rotating arm. The horizontal axes reach final velocities of 1 m/s (vx) and 5 m/s (vy). These axes have a maximum acceleration of 4.5 m/s2 (ax) and 13 m/s2 (ay). Due to a laterally offset design, the diagonal speed component can be eliminated. During transfer, blanks can be oriented along up to six axes. FEEDERplus is suitable for operation in press gaps measuring at least 6,500 mm and up to 11,000 mm and for maximum loads of approx. 125 kg (part and tooling). The system achieves a repeating accuracy of +/- 0.25 mm.
