EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND, August 10, 2019. Scottish, family-run, natural wool blanket and scarf business, The Tartan Blanket Co., is pleased to be participating in NY NOW between August 10 and August 14 at booth 2955. Young couple and co-founders of TBCo. have travelled the world in search of sustainable fibres and manufacturing processes to weave their newest collection to present to the US.
TBCo. is reinventing the tartan blanket with sustainable practices. Thanks to its natural durability, wool is known for its long lifespan. Fibres can bend up to 20,000 times before breaking (as a comparison, cotton can only bend 3,000 times). TBCo. was inspired to develop products that take advantage of wool’s recyclable nature while tackling the challenge of reused wool strands being too short to respin. Their solution is to blend recycled wool with longer mixed fibres that would otherwise end up in landfill, creating a soft, durable and sustainable yarn.
They will unveil their selection of natural wool blankets and scarves in traditional tartans and contemporary lifestyle designs that have been considerately curated by the Edinburgh-based team. The exhibition will showcase the product range in Recycled Wool, Lambswool, and Cashmere. In contrast to fast fashion culture, each product has been thoughtfully designed to last for years to come. Products available include Full Blankets, Knee Blankets, Baby Blankets and Picnic Blankets, along with scarves in a Standard, Oversized and Blanket size.
