NY NOW® Summer 2019

KAHRI Dolls at NY NOW

Fashion Designer/Artist KahriAnne Kerr is debuting her popular collection of Fashion Icon Dolls at NY NOW in August.  The collection, which includes everyone from Karl Lagerfeld to Ruth Bader Ginsburg, is sold at stores such as Story, Shopbop, Lord and Taylor, and more, and is now ready to expand to more retailers.  KahriAnne Kerr creates cute fun original watercolor illustrations of fashion, artist, and feminist icons that are then printed on fabric and turned into cute plush dolls.  The singer Sia even commissioned KahriAnne to create a special Sia Doll for her tour.  Make up Artist Jay Manuel launched his beauty line with custom dolls created by KahriAnne.  Luxottica also commissioned custom dolls for their top level executives. KahriAnne wrote and illustrated her first children's book called "From the Farm to the Big City" which is based on her life story.  The book is dedicated to her mother who passed away almost 5 years ago and inspired KahriAnne to start creating art again.  Previously, KahriAnne had been only focused on designing her contemporary women's clothing collection KAHRI by KahriAnne Kerr.

Growing up on a farm outside of Tripoli in northeast Iowa, where fashion is of little concern, KahriAnne Kerr broke the mold.  Tired of generic mall clothes, KahriAnne started to make her own clothing in High School. Having no previous fashion/sewing experience KahriAnne taught herself how to sew and design.  KAHRI clothing was first showcased on the runway during KahriAnne's freshman year at BYU-Idaho.  KahriAnne presented her first women’s collection to great success.  The fashion design department at BYU-Idaho gave KahriAnne the “Most Promising Designer” award.

Next, KahriAnne moved back to Iowa to set up her first mini store. KahriAnne sold her funky women's clothing and artwork in a 10' x 10' space in Waverly, IA.  Then KahriAnne moved to Ames, IA to attend Iowa State University, so the Kreations by KAHRI store had to go.  Luckily, Zushy, a local boutique picked up KAHRI and soon KahriAnne became a local celebrity, with her designs quickly selling out.  KahriAnne also received recognition from the fashion department at Iowa State University.  A pair of hand-painted pants and a hand- beaded top were chosen to be displayed at the Iowa State Fashion Showcase.  That Spring, KahriAnne entered two women’s collections in the Iowa State Annual Fashion Show (the only sophomore to do so).  Both collections were accepted and displayed on the runway.

KahriAnne then headed out to NYC to attend the fashion design program at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology.  KahriAnne began to sell her collection in NYC stores and e-boutiques. Kahri also set up a temporary mini- store in SoHo, as a part of the designer collective, Burrow.

KahriAnne received the “Rising Star of NJ Fashion Week” award from Lord & Taylor after she presented her collection at the inaugural event.  The show was also featured on Jerseylicious on the Style Network.  In addition, KahriAnne won "Best Eyewear Design" from Luxottica.  KahriAnne also won the 3rd episode of “24 Hour Catwalk” with Alexa Chung on Lifetime.

KAHRI has been sold at fine retailers across the USA, England, Scotland, Austria, Spain, UAE, Japan, Canda, and Israel, as well as many online boutiques.  KAHRI has also been featured in many fashion shows with celebrity hosts and performers, such as Kanye West, MTV’s Quddus, BET’s Melissa Ford, Keenyah Hill and Naima More from America’s Next Top Model, on TV programs, such as MTV, Fuse TV, The Late Show with David Letterman, Jerseylicious, 24 Hour Catwalk, The League, Talk Stoop, as well as many magazines, websites and newspapers, such as Huffington Post, Los Angeles Times, Marie Claire, Interview, NY Magazine, InStyle, Vibe, US Weekly, Zink, Lucky, Venuszine, WWD, The Today Show, DailyCandy, and AM New York. Celebrities such as Keri Hilson, Fergie, Jayma Mays, Aubrey O’Day, Brandi Carlisle, Lenay Dunn, Paris Hilton, Cat Greenleaf, Alysia Reiner, Kimiko Glenn, Kiersy Clemons, Zuri Hall, Miss Universe, Miss USA and more have rocked KAHRI on and off of the red carpet.

The KAHRI collection has evolved over the years and now includes a range of edgy yet feminine artsy accessories, clothing, home décor, and fashion icon dolls.

The KAHRI motto is Be Rebellious!
