Randall-Reilly’s big data drives award-winning journalism, insights into clients’ customers and prospects

TUSCALOOSA, ALA. (March 2014) – Randall-Reilly's Overdrive received the highest honor in business-to-business journalism this month for its series of articles, “CSA’s Data Trail,” built on data from Overdrive’s sister brand RigDig Business Intelligence. American Business Media presented its Grand Neal Award to Overdrive editors at a ceremony in New York City.

By analyzing RigDig data and other sources, Overdrive Senior Editor Todd Dills, highlighted problems with the Compliance Safety Accountability program the federal government uses to identify unsafe trucking fleets, including the fact that it unfairly targets smaller carriers. Neal judges called the series “a masterful service to its readers and a master class in how to use data to hold the Federal government accountable for a safety system whose rankings were inconsistent, often unfair, and unacceptably opaque.”

That underlying data and tools for analysis are also available to Randall-Reilly clients, says Bill Ault, president of Randall-Reilly’s data division in Charlotte, N.C. “Our data gives our clients almost limitless insights into more than 1 million active trucking entities,” he says. “We can help them target clients and prospects based on equipment type, miles driven, inspection outcomes and more.”

Randall-Reilly’s data division also compiles data on the construction, agricultural, lift truck, machine tools, logging and office equipment industries, among others.
