GAME-CHANGING PARTNERSHIP

Two major players in the military wargaming market have partnered to deliver innovative products and services to the UK Ministry of Defence.

Modelling and simulation specialist NSC is working with Slitherine – a leading producer and publisher of digital wargames and strategy titles – to identify game-changing training and decision-making tools for members of the Armed Forces.

Both companies already boast a winning track record when it comes to supporting the military and government departments, with NSC amassing nearly three decades of service to the UK MoD, including the British Army and Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), and Slitherine counting the US Department of Defence among its non-civilian customers.

The partnership will bring both parties’ expertise to bear, combining a deep knowledge of Defence’s demands and providing bespoke simulations to front line commands with best-selling commercial software and emerging technologies.

NSC has developed and maintained modelling and simulation tools which are widely used for research and experimentation across Dstl, including support to three of the five mission critical models utilised by its Security Analysis division, while Slitherine’s Command PE software provides a scalable simulation engine and flexible user interface which benefits from a comprehensive database of platforms and weapon systems.

Jeremy Spurr, NSC’s chief executive, said: “Teaming up with Slitherine as delivery partners is an exciting prospect.

“Whether through the design and delivery of the British Army’s Unit Based Virtual Training (UBVT) system or using artificial intelligence to develop decision-making toolsets capable of supporting high-intensity warfighting simulations, our specialists are deeply embedded in the UK Service community and can help Slitherine to further leverage its hugely successful software to deliver versatility and value to professional users.”

JD McNeil, Slitherine’s CFO, said: “We are pioneering the use of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products for professional use and this partnership will certainly reinforce our unique position in the defence and professional wargaming markets.”
