'You can literally drop a transmission'

More than 15 years ago, ceramic tile by Argelith was laid in the service area of Laurel BMW in Westmont, Illinois. The floor held up under more than a decade of heavy use so that when Laurel built a new dealership last year, there was no question the service department would be paved with Argelith tile.

The new Laurel BMW of Westmont is one of the largest BMW dealerships in the Midwest, including more than 30,000 square feet devoted to vehicle service.

"The quality, as well as the design aspect of clinker tile, has made a very positive impact in our new facility," said Jim Mueller, service and parts director at the dealership. "Our techs and service team love the durability as you can literally drop a transmission on the floor and the tile will not break. The ability to clean every day and make it look like you are walking into a new shop every morning, as well as how bright it is, makes our staff feel proud to come to work."

The beauty of the tile is not lost on Mueller either. And because the old dealership used Argelith tile, the owner knows the floor's good looks will last over time.

"The clients are amazed at the utter perfection in how every tile is laid as well as the design we were able to incorporate with the different colors," Mueller said. "We wanted to focus so much on our new shop and clinker tile, we built windows into the shop from the customer waiting area!"
