Makita Returns to NECA with More Solutions for the Electrical Trade

SEPTEMBER 13, 2019 – Las Vegas, NV – Makita returns this week to the NECA Show in Las Vegas (booth 3253) with more solutions for electrical contractors. Makita’s range of solutions includes several additions to the LXT system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V lithium-ion batteries.

One System, More Solutions, Maximum Performance
For Makita, the focus is on more options for contractors within the LXT system.  When users invest in the LXT system, they can go with the superior ergonomics and lighter weight of Sub-Compact and Compact LXT tools. For more demanding applications, the very same 18V batteries can be used in LXT Premium tools, and 18V X2 (36V) tools powered by two 18V batteries.

There are over 225 products in the LXT system. All are powered by the same fast-charging 18V LXT batteries, so users need only invest in a single battery platform.

“Cordless innovation is more than just bigger, heavier batteries,”’ said Wayne Hart, Communications Manager, Makita U.S.A. “Real cordless innovation is a combination of superior battery technology, efficient brushless motor engineering, and tool-specific programmed control boards that allow the battery and motor to communicate during use. When the battery and motor are working together, users win with maximum cordless performance.  LXT is one battery platform and a total solution for electricians.”

Hands-On and Interactive
The Makita booth at NECA will feature the Driving Innovation Tour, a fully-custom interactive tool display on wheels that carries a full range of Makita LXT®. It’s a 360-degree experience with the very latest in cordless innovation with hands-on demonstrations, video, and interactive displays. The booth offers 11 different demonstration stations so users can run the tools and experience the difference for themselves.

The following are featured products at NECA 2019

Concrete
Makita has a deep system of concrete and dust extraction solutions, and NECA attendees will see the latest cordless innovation in the category. Demonstration stations with concrete forms will offer users a chance to run tools that range from the 18V LXT Sub-Compact Rotary Hammer (XRH06) which is ideal for work in tight spaces, up to the hard-hitting 18V X2 LXT (36V) 1-9/16 AVT SDS-MAX Rotary Hammer that features Advanced Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT®) for increased comfort. Dust extraction is increasingly top-of-mind among contractors, and Makita offers more ways to get compliant with OSHA silica standards. Solutions include Auto-Start Wireless System (AWS), which is Bluetooth® technology that offers wireless power-on/power-off with an equipped dust extractor.

Drilling & Fastening
Drilling and fastening are core applications for electricians, and Makita will demonstrate a full range of cordless solutions at NECA. The 18V LXT Sub-Compact line offers drills and impact drivers for work in tight spaces, giving contractors 18V performance with the size and weight of a 12V tool. The full-featured 18V LXT Quick-Shift Mode 4-speed Impact Driver (XDT16) is Makita’s most compact and most powerful impact driver and features a full range of precision settings.

For the most demanding drilling and fastening applications, Makita offers the 18V X2 LXT (36V) Right Angle Drill (XAD03), ideal for getting in between studs and drilling 7/8” holes quickly and efficiently, as well as for work on utility poles. Utility workers will also appreciate the 18V LXT High-Torque Impact Wrench available with a half-inch chuck (XWT08) and 7/16 hex chuck (XWT09).

Long threaded rod often requires hand-threading, a time-consuming task. Makita created Hollow Sockets for use with drills and impact drivers for accelerated fastening over extra-long bolts and threaded rod.

Metal Cutting
Makita metal cutting solutions are ideal for conduit, Unistrut, all-thread, and more. Makita offers two 18V LXT Portable Band Saws including the XBP02 with a full 4-3/4” cutting capacity, and the Compact XBP03 that includes a blade-enclosing wheel cover, making it suitable for one-handed operation per ANSI Standard 60745-2-20.

Also featured is the 18V X2 LXT (36V) 14” Cut-Off Saw (XWL01), a world’s first, as well as two metal cutting circular saws with debris-capture. Available in 5-3/8” (XSC03) and 5-7-8” (XSC04) both metal cutting saws feature a chip collection box and are ideal for cutting threaded rod, Unistrut, conduit, pipe, and more.

Wood Cutting
Makita has long legacy of tools for wood cutting, and contractors can get the performance of these longtime favorite circular saws and reciprocating saws without the cord. Demonstrations will include 18V Sub-Compact Circular Saw (XSH06) for less weight, as well as the 18V X2 LXT (36V) Reciprocating Saw (XRJ06) and 7-1/4” Circular Saw (XSR01) for the most demanding applications.

Rebar Tying
Electricians often tie conduit to rebar, which can be a time-consuming task. The Makita 18V LXT Cordless Rebar Tying Tool (XRT01) is a big time saver, making a tie in under one second and up to 5,300 ties of #3 x #3 diameter rebar using an 18V LXT® 5.0Ah Battery.

Measurement
Makita offers four lasers engineered for superior accuracy and visibility. The Red Beam (SK105DNAX) and Green Beam (SK105GDNAX) Lasers are powered by efficient 12V max CXT® Lithium-Ion Batteries, offering increased brightness and run time over standard alkaline batteries. With an optional adaptor, the lasers can also be powered by an 18V LXT battery, the same fast-charging battery that power over 225 tools and power equipment in the LXT system.
