The RAD Soap Company: How Hemp changed this family business' life.

Albany, NY - It all began in a small kitchen fueled by a mother’s love where founder, Sue Kerber searched for something natural to relieve her son’s eczema.  In early 2009, she turned her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for hemp and other natural ingredients into The RAD Soap Co. skin care line.

Over the past eight years RAD Soap has been providing authentic natural soap solutions with great care and passion: Soap with a purpose! Its products are natural, 98 percent vegan.

“I began creating homemade products when my oldest son Zak was born with eczema. After many doctors appointments and failed prescriptions, I decided to turn to nature,” said Sue Kerber, Founder of The RAD Soap Co.  “After reading up on the subject, I came up with my own version of a lotion to test on him and low and behold I developed what is today known as RAD's Project H line.  After years of making several different creams for all sorts of ailments, I approached my family with an idea to about starting a company.”

RAD Soap is made by using an inventive proprietary process creating soap in 24 hours, which involves suspending the soap in a glycerin state with botanical extractions from mushrooms.  This process allows the essential oils in the soap to avoid exposure to caustic sodas, retaining their nuances and delicate natural balance.

The company website is stocked with plant-based body and beauty goods which include antioxidant powerhouses and nature’s most powerful healers such as matcha green tea, reishi mushroom, chaga mushroom, charcoal, saffron, and oatmeal.  Shoppers can peruse face and body creams, bars and soaps, house care soaps, deodorants, creams, and more.

“We wanted to create the best bar of soap in the world using the same ingredient when starting the company; hemp. I have always maintained that if my family won’t use it, we won’t sell it!  Eight years later, we're out of my kitchen and now in a 15 thousand square- foot building!  I am also proud to say that both of my sons Zak and Max as partners. RAD Soap is here to stay and wow, what a journey it has been,” said Kerber.

RAD Soap is headquartered at a 15,000-square-foot building in the Albany suburb of Menands, where 12 employees make, package and ship between 10,000 and 20,000 bars of soap a month.
