AUGUST 3, 2018 — PORTLAND, OR — When a love for design, sustainability and travel collide, the perfect throw is born. Portland, Oregon based designer and entrepreneur Jala Smith-Huys will bring her American made throws to NY NOW in hopes of attracting interest from national and international buyers.
Seek & Swoon offers over twenty throw designs, in both full and baby sized. The throws are machine washable and made at an American family owned and operated mill from approximately 75% recycled cotton and 25% recycled polyester. The majority of Jala’s designs are inspired by travel and beautiful places around the world.
Jala is excited to participate in her first NY NOW event this year and alongside five other Portland-based vendors in conjunction with Prosper Portland. “As a small business, it’s difficult to reach all of the potential buyers and stores you want to reach. NY NOW is giving me the opportunity to share my products and passion with retailers, interior designers and hotels who are looking for textiles that are sustainably made, beautiful and have a story to tell."
Seek & Swoon will be exhibiting at NY NOW at the Javitz Center, booth 1144 on the 3rd floor in the Handmade Designer Maker Section from August 12-15. You can also catch a glimpse of a Seek & Swoon throw in the Handmade Product Display outside of the River Pavilion (Handmade Global Design entrance).
“I would love to connect to buyers and interior designers (both residential and commercial) who share a love for design like I do and are looking for products for their brick-and-mortar or online stores that are quality made and memorable,” says Smith-Huys.
