FABTECH 2019

WeldComputer CEO Receives Elihu Thomson Resistance Welding Award

WeldComputer Corporation is pleased to announce that Robert Cohen has been awarded the Elihu Thomson Resistance Welding Award by the American Welding Society (AWS).  The honor, which recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the technology and application of resistance welding, will be awarded at AWS’ FABTECH Expo 2019, in Chicago.

Bob has devoted his career to the research, development, and commercialization of new sensor, monitoring, and control technologies to advance resistance welding. His work is responsible for process improvements in manufacturing industries ranging from aerospace and defense, to automotive, semiconductor, and medical devices.

“It is pleasing to have seen this industry evolve over my career, and to have been a part of its growth,” Cohen said. “The state of the art in resistance welding has come a long way from the days when destructive testing for quality was the norm, and with the advent of computer technology fast enough to model and guide the welding process in real time, I look forward to being part of the next wave of advancement.”
