Weld Slag Resistant Aramid M12 Cordsets Improve Durability in Tough Welding Applications

MINNEAPOLIS, MN— Turck, a manufacturer of sensors, connectivity and fieldbus technology for factory and process automation, today announced it will showcase its Weld Slag Resistant Aramid M12 cordsets at Fabtech.

Turck’s new aramid jacketed M12 cordsets are the ideal solution for tough welding applications. These cables are protected by an aramid over-braid (comparable to Kevlar®), which safeguards the inner jacket and conductors from short circuits due to weld sparks and weld slag buildup.

The cable is capable of tolerating short-term temperature spikes of up to 200 °C. The integrated aramid over-braid eliminates any additional installation time that would typically be required with other commonly used protective weld sleeves. Since the over-braid is retained by the overmolded plug body, it is also significantly more secure than other sleeve types. The intricate weave of the over-braid eliminates any potential gaps in protection, reduces catch points with moving parts, and is capable of a smaller bend radius, resulting in a less bulky solution that saves space in the welding cell. The aramid cordsets are also an excellent choice for motion applications, with over 3 million cycles of flex testing with no signs of degradation.

Turck’s aramid jacketed M12 cordsets are available in 3-, 4-, and 5-pin A-coded M12 straight and right-angled cordsets and splitters.
