Moosejaw Gives a Glimpse of the Future for the Outdoor Industry

Moosejaw Gives a Glimpse of the Future for the Outdoor Industry
At Moosejaw, we've always been at the cutting edge of retail technology, whether it was our first mobile site in 2006, our Augmented Reality (AR) X-Ray app in 2011, or our Virtual Reality (VR) app in 2016.  Now Moosejaw has partnered with Walmart's Spatialand to introduce V-Commerce to the Outdoor Industry at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Denver, CO, July 23-27.
For all of the advances in E-Commerce, the purchasing process is basically the same today as it was 25-years ago: the customer browses an online catalog and then views 2-D images and a description of the product before deciding whether to buy.  Effective, yes... but not particularly entertaining or engaging.
Working with Walmart's Spatialand, we've been able to imagine what could be coming in a few years -- a completely immersive adventure where you're transported to a campsite at Yosemite and can experience your camping equipment in the wild.  Need a tent?  Pick a brand and a size and see how it looks.  Walk around it and look at the features.  But how roomy is it inside?  Enter the tent and see how many it sleeps.  How easy is it to set-up?  Click a virtual button and watch it pop to life.  Once you've found your tent, add it to your cart and checkout.
Our V-Commerce prototype also demonstrates other potential uses of VR technology, from an immersive brand experience to an entertaining outdoor cooking experience.
Is V-Commerce going to take over in 2018 or 2019?  Perhaps not, but the Moosejaw-Spatialand Outdoor V-Commerce experience gives you a glimpse of the not-too-distant future and lets you imagine what could be possible.  Swing by booth 24203-SL near the Venture Out section of the show to check it out.
