The Popedge is designed for those who push the envelope, whether they are pushing themselves or competing against others. Adventure racers, mountain bikers, triathletes, and adrenaline junkies will appreciate Popedge’s aggressive aesthetic, and protective lens options. Available with gray polarized lenses in five different frame colors or mirrored combos, they also come with a custom compact hardcase, carabiner clip, soft bag, and cleaning cloth. MSRP: $199 - $209.
“People have been loving the look and feel of the Poptrail and Popedge. And when they put them on, they can’t believe how light they are,” said Popticals inventor David Porter. “Combine their light weight with some of the clearest lenses on the market, and our FL2 Micro-Rail System, and they offer a strong consumer value proposition.”
Popticals solves the problem of how to store wrap-around performance sunglasses when not in use. Typically, sunglasses are pushed to the top of the head, hung from a shirt collar, or set down somewhere where they could be scratched or broken.
Popticals’ FL2 Micro-Rail System allows the frame to separate at the bridge, and the lenses to slide parallel and nest on top of each other. About midway on each arm is a small hinge, which allows them to be collapsed as well. After being folded up, Popticals sunglasses fit nicely into a compact carrying case that easily fits into a backpack, jacket pocket, or glove box.
All Popticals eyewear features the company’s NYDEF™ nylon lenses, a high performance lens manufactured for Popticals by Carl Zeiss Vision. Popticals NYDEF lenses have the clarity of a glass lens (Abbe 52 vs. Abbe 49-50. Polycarbonate lenses are 30.), yet remain 18 percent lighter than polycarbonate lenses used in most other sunglasses (1.01 g/cm3 vs. 1.20 g/cm3. Glass lenses are 2.5 g/cm3.).
In 2016, Popticals officially debuted a line of five styles and 25 SKUs at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market and introduced other models in the following years. With this year's addition of the Poptrail and Popedge, Popticals now offers 10 models and 132 SKUs for the action sports, backpacking, fishing, golf, and ski markets, ranging in price from $169 to $239.
