Fully autonomous cranes improve safety, efficiency, quality
Increase crane availability up to 99.5%
ANDOVER, Mass. – May 6, 2019 – Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, is introducing its Integrated Autonomous Crane System at AISTech 2019, the international exhibition for the steel industry in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
The system is based on several successful projects which were designed and commissioned for travelling overhead (bridge) crane operations at two of the world’s largest steel producers in China and France. It combines Schneider’s leading automation, sensing, and advanced hoisting technologies into an integrated, fully autonomous system that significantly improves crane operations.
“The results at these first customer sites haVE convinced us that this technology will offer significant value to steel producers everywhere, and we are excited to bring it to AISTech for the rest of the steel industry to see,” said Jean-Francois Carvalho, VP of Schneider’s Hoisting Business Center in France.
Besides the improvement in speed, efficiency and safety, the system also increases crane availability up to 99.5% thanks to advanced motion, positioning, and anti-sway control that minimizes mechanical wear and tear caused by operator-controlled cranes.
“Furthermore,” Calvalho adds, “when connected to a company’s ERP, the solution is integrated into the complete supply chain and improves inventory control, shipping logistics, and supply chain management.
The new solution will be demonstrated at AISTech May 6th to 9th.
