2018 Irrigation Show

RDI to launch innovative, ultra-high efficiency irrigation system at the 2018 IA Show

With "smart" controllers and low precipitation rates being all the rage in the irrigation inductry these days, Responsive Drip Irrigation, LLC (RDI), a Bradenton, FL based start-up company, is poised to release a disruptive new water delivery technology that is certain to make waves at this year's IA show.  This new tecnnology delivers impressive water efficiency and incredible design flexibility with a single product that requires no controller or electric valves.  RDI referrs to their subsurface system as "plant responsive irrigation" or "smart drip line" that responds to the naturally occurring signals emitted by plant roots to release water exactly when and where each plant needs it.  With millions of "smart" micropores per foot, the RDI system puts Mother Nature back in charge of precisely controlling water use at each plant instead of man-made "smart" controllers that try to predict the average amount of water a landscape environment will need.  "Unlike smart controllers that require weather stations or soil moisture sensors, we let the plants or the turf tell the weather or the soil moisture levels for us and then we simply respond to the plant's signals.  It is elegant in its simplicity!  And when water is released, it is at a molecular flow rate that matches the plant's absorbtion rate.  Essentially no water is lost to percolation through the soil.", states Kirt Williams, RDI's COO.

The RDI system also makes life very simple for the landscape/irrigation designer.  One product will work for 95% of all landscape applications.  No complicated emitter spacings or flowrates to worry about and one line can water both drought tolerant and thirsty plants in the same space. Go ahead.  Mix the plants you want for the desired visual affect.  RDI can keep them all healthy with the absolute minimum water use.
