Gem Goswala (A capsule collection from Mozambique)

A capsule collection by artistic fine jewellery designer Harshad Ajoomal inspired by the historic GOSWALA or briolette cut gemstone.

The briolette (or bree-aw-let) cut has made a pleasant return to high jewellery recently. It’s one of the top trends in high jewellery for the upcoming seasons. This unusual cut is characterized by many triangular, rectangular or diamond-shaped facets done by an experienced gem cutter on transparent or translucent precious gemstones. When these briolette cut gemstones are exposed to a strong light every facet reflects colour in such a way as to create a playful kaleidoscopic sparkle effect.

Fun Fact: FYI the Koh-I-Noor was originally a briolette, before it was robbed from the Indian treasury and recut into its present pear-shaped form.

We have translated our inspiration of this ancient Indian cut into a capsule collection of avant-garde wearable pieces. With our colour palette again from our Mozambique collection, natural gemstones like orange sapphires, tanzanites, peridots & amethysts bunched together in contemporary forms and shapes to give us a line of creative & inspired fine jewels.
