In light of the summer season, renowned fine jewlery designer, Suzanne Kalan, continues to expand her signature Fireworks collection with her newest line, Rainbow Fireworks. Since debuting the Fireworks line seven years ago, as part of her Vitrine collection, Kalan has expanded the concept and her use of baguette diamonds to feature a wide range of styles. She's intigrated layering styles into the Fireworks collection including charms, fringe and movement jewelry pieces.
Her latest line is a natural progression of her signature collection, and now features multi-colored baguettes-cut and square-cut sapphires in seemingly scattered settings to reveal beautiful and illusive explosions of color. In 2014, Kalan's signature collection won the prestigious COUTURE Design Award for the "Diamond Below $20,000 (Retail)" category for her 19-Karat Fireworks Baguette Diamond Shield Ring.
"When I started the Fireworks collection, I changed the perception of how baguette diamonds are traditionally used. I found that having the diamonds offset increases the drama in a piece. I have always used unique vibrant gemstones in my collections and I wanted to add more color back into my signature line. Sapphires come in a wide range of colors and I find them to be more stunning in a baguette-cut," Kalan says.
Kalan finds inspiration all around, especially in nature and on her various trips around the world. In the last few months, Suzanne has been traveling to Greece, Italy, Kuwait, London, Abu Dhabi and Malaysia. Each sapphire stone, detail and design are reminiscent of her recent travels. The green sapphire stones are inspired by the forests along the Meditterean coastline, the yellow sapphires symbolize the bright sun in the Middle East and the blue sapphires resemble the beautiful beaches in Mykonos.
The combination of milti-colored sapphires and intricate settings display dynamic and stunning rainbow-like designs. The line features a wide range of styles including chokers, pendants, earrings, bracelets and rings. Many of the pieces are also accented with white round and baguette-cut diamonds. The collection has styles that retail from $700- $15,000 USD. The collection started arriving into stores in the fall of 2017.
