HD Electric Company® Introduces All New V-Watch® Personal Voltage Detector
Waukegan, IL., HD Electric Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, the leading provider of products serving the needs of the electrical power industry, is proud to announce the launch of the all new, redesigned V-Watch® Personal Voltage Detector. The V-Watch Detector is worn on the body to detect unknown sources of voltage, and the new design makes for a user-friendly, lightweight and durable tool.
“We developed the new V-Watch Personal Voltage Detector as a sleeker and more robust alternative to our current model,” said Ryan Berg, Director of Product Development. “By making some basic mechanical, electrical and aesthetic changes, we’ve created a durable tool that saves lives and is easy to operate.”
The V-Watch Personal Voltage Detector features multi-colored flashing lights and a loud audible alarm that face upwards towards the user, and alerts when at least 2.4kV of voltage is detected. Audible and visual alarms increase in frequency the closer the user gets to energized equipment. The compact design allows for free movement, while the water-resistant nature makes for a reliable detector in any condition.
“We wanted to create a tool that was both durable and easy to use,” said Michael Standiford, Electrical Engineer. “The tool turns on by simply pulling up on the top, as opposed to having the user unzip a hard shell shielded case, as they do with the current V-Watch Personal Voltage Detector. Every time the detector is turned on it performs a self-test to ensure it is working properly.”
