Zombyte is a new, original game for the 4-player Hologate virtual reality platform. In the game, players join the Z.W.A.T (Zombie Weapons and Tactics) to fight off an army of zombie-like creatures; humans with brain enhancements that have been infected by a computer virus. But these zombies aren’t alone; they are joined by a force of infected robots.
Players must work together to fight the oncoming hoard. Up to 4 players can participate at once, and they can use the 2-way communication in the headsets to respond in real-time and adjust strategies as new enemies appear. Each enemy attacks in a different way and players must duck and maneuver to avoid being hit (the VR system can track all movement of the headset and controller).
Every player wants to get the high score; the leaderboard is a key part of the competition. But Zombyte is designed so that players are not guaranteed to finish with a score. If the players don’t perform well enough, the game ends and no score is recorded. This is perfect for the gamer demographic who welcomes a challenge, and it encourages repeat play.
