Nowadays the beauty of watercolors is undeniable. This very old technique has something magical that makes everyone take a second look. Why? My theory is that it has a lot to do with everything we can achieve with them:
- A warm hand crafted look. There's a human element behind a hand painted design that is very visible in watercolors. It's nearly impossible to recreate this effect using only digital tools but by combining both, the possibilities are endless.
- Transparencies. My favorite watercolor designs play with transparencies. They give any design a unique depth even in a monochromatic color palette.
- Colors. Watercolor palettes are usually very organic and have a natural feel, they blend flawlessly creating effects that are very pleasing to the eye. They can also be tweaked during the editing phase or combined with brighter inks if that is the desired look.
- Patterns. Watercolor patterns are not very common in the surface design world so they bring something fresh and different to the table. There are all sort of possible products to develop, like wallpapers, notebook covers, planners, houseware and more.
