SURTEX® 2018

Margie and the Moon Debuts at Surtex in New York, May 20-22.

New Orleans, LA, May 7th, 2018 -- At Surtex 2018, New Orleans artist Margie Tillman Ayres of Margie and the Moon, will be debuting a collection of artfully vibrant patterns and illustrations for children, their grown-ups and the playful at heart.   Her work finds magic in the ordinary.  For example,  “The Tinkermarmots” of her 2018 Collection feature a cast of tiny creatures that reside beneath the leaves of a plush and tropical garden hidden from casual observation.  Accompanying patterns include dreamy botanical settings of life amongst the leaves.

Visitors to Booth #2556 will have the opportunity to meet the artist in person and see samples of her work on pillows, fabric, wallpaper and clothing.

Tillman Ayres has spent her life on the banks of the Mississippi River between the town of Natchez, Mississippi and City of New Orleans.  She also lived for a year and a half in Madrid, Spain and has traveled extensively abroad.  Her artwork reflects the rhythm and patterns of the flora and fauna of these unique and disparate landscapes but is also heavily informed by the wild and boundless imaginations of her two young sons.

In addition to her line of children’s products and art prints, Tillman Ayres has had the wonderful experience of collaborating with Spruce owner and New Orleans interior designer, Nomita Joshi-Gupta to create a line of designer children’s wallpaper and fabric.  She has also collaborated considerably with the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival designing and painting backdrops and decor.

“I’m so excited to be part of Surtex this year.  I look forward to meeting potential new clients and partners as well as artists and designers!  I really enjoy the process of collaborating to make someone’s vision come to life.”
