Farm to Feet launches Mountaineering and Nordic socks for 2018

Mt. Airy, North Carolina (January 23, 2018) — Farm to Feet, makers of 100% American socks, introduces the Denali, a new high altitude mountaineering sock, and Portland, a performance Nordic ski sock for Fall 2018.

Developed in collaboration with the Alaska Mountaineering School, the Denali was designed from lessons they learned over decades of high altitude mountaineering experience. The Denali has a relaxed fit so for when muscles swell at high altitudes, but still enough structure that it stays up on the leg.

The Denali is designed to handle the coldest of days in the mountains. It features more wool content than any previous Farm to Feet sock, with 92% of its material composition consisting of 22 micron US Merino wool. Along with providing supreme warmth, the high wool content also provides superior comfort. Adding to its comfort is a 4-ply wool foot bottom for additional underfoot insulation and cushioning.

The Denali features a diamond pattern reminiscent of quilted down jackets on its leg while a ribbed section between the ankle and top of the foot ensures the sock stays in place. While designed for use with mountaineering boots, the Denali is suitable for ice fishing and other cold weather pursuits. MSRP: $30

The Portland Nordic sock was designed with input from multiple current and former national and international level skiers including Farm to Feet’s public relations representative, Michael Collin, a former Nordic Combined skier who also raced for the University of Vermont and now is a Portland Nordic board member, an organization that promotes Nordic skiing in Portland, Maine.

Designed for both classic and skating techniques, Portland crew rises just above the cuff of a skate boot. The top of the sock and arch are flat knit for a lightweight fit, while knit-in arch support provides additional support and comfort racing sprints or cruising a loppet. For additional durability and support, targeted reinforcement and cushioning has been added under the forefoot and around the heal.

The sock’s design has numerous Nordic skiing inspired details. The “v” venting on the back of the leg are reminiscent of skate and classic herringbone ski tracks, while the design on the top of the sock were inspired by the lines of a NIS binding plate. MSRP: $21

Both socks and the complete Farm to Feet collection will be available at better outdoor retailers nationwide and at www.farmtofeet.com Fall 2018.
