Topo Athletic Ends 2017 with Third Consecutive Year of Growth and Partners with OrthoLite for Fall 2018 Programs

Framingham, Mass. – January 25, 2018 – Topo Athletic today announced it just completed a third consecutive year of growth in 2017, with sales increasing 70% over the previous year. These results were largely attributed to increased assortments and steady re-orders with existing accounts, while new account growth was selective and limited to 20%.

“2017 was another important year for Topo Athletic,” said Tony Post, founder and CEO. “I’m proud of the team’s effort and dedication to deliver great product and a strong value to our customers."

In May and August, respectively, Topo Athletic will release two new models: Ultrafly 2 and REKOVR. Ultrafly 2 is an evolution of the award-winning Ultrafly (named Runner’s World Best Debut in 2016) and the sixth shoe in Topo’s collection to experience an update. While the Ultrafly 2 retains several of the existing platform characteristics, it features a new Ortholite compression resistant foam footbed to enhance longevity and feel.  The all-new REKOVR marks Topo’s expansion into the active-recovery market, featuring an anti-microbial, massaging Ortholite footbed and wool upper. These design elements allow the Rekovr to be worn without socks.  The all-terrain trail bottom and comfort feel make this shoe ideal for travel, walking, pre/post yoga, and after-sport recovery.

Topo takes their customer feedback seriously, “Our customers have been great with their feedback and suggestions, demonstrating they are truly invested in our brand. And, while no one gets more excited about new products than me, it’s also important to not take away from what’s working just for the sake of making something new.  With many new products currently in development, I’m excited about our future and the challenge to keep getting better!”

Always seeking ways to offer customers the best fit and feel at the best value, Topo Athletic partnered with OrthoLite, the leading provider of comfort and performance insoles, to create innovative insoles for the new Ultrafly 2 and REKOVR.

“We knew adding a compression resistant foam footbed to the new Ultrafly 2 could only make the product better, and with Ortholite we were able to do that, while fine tuning the ride and fit.”

"We are incredibly excited to partner with the team at Topo on the design and development of the optimal insole technology solution," said Dan Legor, director of marketing for Ortholite.   "COnsumers are demanding higher levels of comfort, quality, and performance at retail and by combining the unique fit and feel of Topo's products with proprietary Ortholite insole technology, we are confident that will keep them coming back for their next pair of Topos."

The REKOVR will include the 3D Wave Sense insole powered by OrthoLite, which features anti-microbial, textured, wave-patterned cushioning that delivers outstanding massaging comfort to help accelerate recovery. The Ultrafly 2 will include an insole using OrthoLite’s X-Series High Rebound foam formulation, “a first of its kind” with an elasticity rating of more than 25 percent to aid in comfort and performance. Like all Topo models, the Rekovr and Ultrafly 2 feature a roomy toe box, low drop platform and lightweight construction to deliver a more natural experience.

More details about these new shoe models and their OrthoLite-powered insoles are found in the descriptors below:

TRAIL: REKOVR (MSRP: $100)

REKOVR is an after-sport recovery shoe, featuring a breathable wool and microfiber upper with an aggressively lugged outsole so you can continue to enjoy the outdoors even when “resting.” The 3mm drop, nerve-stimulating Ortholite foam footbed features deep cushioned ridges in a wave pattern that massages the bottom of the foot to increase blood circulation and accelerate recovery. Designed to be worn without socks, both the wool and footbed foam resist bacteria-causing odor to keep the foot relaxed and comfortable. The 3mm peaks and valleys are not compressed and retain all of OrthoLite’s cushioning attributes.

The upper rests on the same platform featured in the Runventure 2 and Terraventure, without the rock plate, allowing athletes to recover at any time.

Like all Topo models, the Rekovr fits roomy in the toes, yet snug in the waist and heel, encouraging healthy and more natural foot positioning and movement.

Specs // weight: 9.2oz (M9)/7.5oz (W7); total stack height: 22/19mm (3mm drop)

Available: August 2018

ROAD: ULTRAFLY 2 (MSRP: $120)

The Ultrafly 2 is a cushioned road running shoe featuring a 3-density midsole for light guidance through the gait cycle. At 28mm stack height in the heel and 23mm forefoot, the Ultrafly 2 has a 5mm drop. The new mesh upper is strong yet breathable and the all-new OrthoLite X-Series High Rebound foam footbed provides additional comfort. With a 25 percent elasticity rating, the OrthoLite footbed resists packing due to compression and preserves the shoes original cushioning sensation. The insole is also made from antimicrobial material, which helps eliminate odor-causing bacteria. Fans of the original Ultrafly 2 will notice the removal of the mudguard for a sleeker, faster look and feel.

Specs // weight: 10oz (M9)/8.3oz (W7); total stack height: 28/23mm (5mm drop)

Available: May 2018

Like all Topo models, the Ultrafly 2 fits roomy in the toes, yet snug in the waist and heel, encouraging healthy and more natural foot positioning and movement.

Topo Athletic will be previewing the Ultrafly 2 and REKOVR models at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2018 (January 25-28) at booth # 53147-UL.
