Sun safety experts provide free individual sun damage images and skin cancer checks

Denver, CO – Sun safety is a year-round practice that is just as important in winter as it is in the summer. It’s especially important for those who work or play on the slopes during the winter months which is why the Colorado Skin Cancer Task Force, Rocky Mountain Sunscreen, Klein Buendel, and dermatologists from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center have teamed up to provide free sun safety and skin cancer resources once again at this years’ Outdoor Retailer and Snow Show.

Participants can get their free image taken by the Skin Cancer Task Force’s special Reveal Imager which will provide guests with a photo of themselves that highlights the sun damage they have received throughout their life. Complimentary skin cancer screenings will also be available and conducted on site for those that are interested.

“Skin cancer is a very real risk, but if caught early, it’s one of the most treatable forms of cancer. We’re hoping that ski industry employees will take a preventive approach to skin cancer by using sun protection religiously. We’re also hoping they will routinely check their skin for any changes in the size, shape or color of their moles,” said Dr. Robert Dellavalle, co-chair of the Colorado Skin Cancer Task Force and a Professor of Dermatology and Public Health at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Colorado School of Public Health.

The Reveal Imager will be at the Rocky Mountain Sunscreen Booth #44060-UL from Thursday January 25 through Saturday January 27 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Skin Cancer screening times vary, please visit the booth for available times.

The Colorado Skin Cancer Task Force is an all-volunteer subgroup of the Colorado Cancer Coalition comprised of physicians and other medical professionals, researchers, businesspersons, and citizens committed to education, prevention and early detection of skin cancer in Colorado.
