Winter Boots Designed for Kids, But Built to Go Where Parents Go

Bothell, WA, December 20th, 2017 – For over 13 years, children’s footwear brand, See Kai Run made a name for themselves in the consumer market by designing footwear that was stylish and fun, but also promoted healthy foot development in children.  Now, See Kai Run’s message about the impact of footwear on the health and well-being of children is being heard in the Outdoor Industry through their new line of proportionally engineered, Waterproof/Insulated Winter boots.

“Many adults today suffer from later-in-life ailments due, in part, to poor foot-health practices during childhood,” says See Kai Run, CEO, Helen Rockey.  “This includes wearing ill-fitting and poorly designed shoes.  Our mission is to design shoes – and boots – that promote foot-health in children and help avoid later-in-life issues.”

The See Kai Run philosophy is quite simple; “children’s feet change and so should their shoes.”  According to Rockey, See Kai Run designs their shoes to the age and stage of children, a process they call, proportional engineering. While some brands simply scale down adult styles to kid sizes, See Kai Run designs to the needs of a growing foot; this means shoes should be flexible and lightweight, so kids can develop balance, gait and stride.  They should also have roomy toe boxes so toes can wiggle and flex, which develops tendon and muscle strength.  “We believe the days of the heavy, clunky winter boot for children are over,” says Rockey.

Lightweight, Flexible, Yet Durable

At the January 2018 Outdoor Retailer Show, See Kai Run will unveil six new Waterproof/Insulated Boots designed specifically for kids to tackle the elements.  All styles are ultra-lightweight and flexible yet durable enough to go where parents go.  All-rubber outsoles with off-set tread patterns provide maximum grip in all weather conditions; true bootie construction with seam-sealed membranes and water gussets are resistant to 10,000mb pressure for up to four hours.  And thermal insoles, alongside 3M™ Thinsulate™ lining are cold rated to -35° Fahrenheit to provide maximum, circumambient insulation.  As CEO, Rockey adds, “These are truly rugged winter boots that also meet the health needs of growing children; something the Outdoor Industry hasn’t seen until now.”
