MICHIGAN – November 2017 – Tandem For Two, LLC announces a new product they have developed that is supporting a local high school technology program.
Tandem For Two produces a line of home goods and stationery that celebrate all the unique qualities of each state and town. Over the past year, owner and creative director, Jennifer Smelker has expanded her line of entertaining products to include felt coasters, tea towels and cocktail napkins. While brainstorming ideas to develop that complement the existing line, she turned to her own swizzle stick collection.
Smelker and her family live in a 1928 Craftsman bungalow that she and her husband restored together and it has a large front porch that first drew them to the house. Smelker says, “We have spent a lot of time on our porch - summer dinners, morning coffee, evening cocktails, porch parties, gathering family and friends to relax and watch the world go by. We love to fix a drink, grab a swizzle stick and gather together.”
Smelker discovered she couldn’t find state-shaped swizzle sticks or drink stirrers but she also had a hard time finding a production partner who could produce her designs for her. Her teenage son suggested contacting his engineering teacher at the high school. “It was such a great solution and I’m thrilled to support the technology education program and keep production local.” Every purchase of a swizzle stick set supports the local high school program where students learn to design, research and develop, produce, and market their own products.
