Iconic mosaic tile designs reimagined with modern materials
January 29, 2018 – NEW YORK, NEW YORK – Locus Vie (locusvie.com), a distribution company for premium European home décor products and Hidraulik (hidrauliktiles.com), an innovative line of mosaic floor and table mats, are collaborating to launch Locus Vie + Hidraulik at the NY NOW Design Show in New York on February 4-7, 2018. Locus Vie is the exclusive distributor for Hidraulik in North America.
Hidraulik is designed and manufactured in Barcelona. Already very popular in Europe, these highly functional floor and table mats are an exciting statement piece throughout the home. The line features a collection of floor mats, placemats and coasters in classic and contemporary mosaic prints that mimic real tile but have been reimagined with modern materials. With a slight grip on the underside, the mats can be laid down on existing flooring right out of the box and require no installation.
“I spent 15 years living in Europe and what I appreciate most about European design is the innate ability to pair old-world, classic design with modern colours and pieces. Hidraulik is a great example of this almost effortless interplay between the old and the new; many of the designs in the product line are classic prints from the late 1800’s that have been reimagined with contemporary colours and crisp geometric shapes,” said Karene Dumoulin, Principal, Locus Vie.
Uniquely differentiated from competing products, the Hidraulik line is made from premium vinyl with the following properties: hypoallergenic, bacteriostatic, waterproof, phthalate-free, fire retardant, heat-safe and meets the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standard for anti-slip. The material looks just like real tile but has a smooth surface with a slight cushion that is comfortable to stand on and easy to clean.
Hidraulik is a new collection to both NY NOW and the United States, and meets many of 2018’s interior design trends, including a bold pop of colour, contemporary mosaic tile designs, and a new high performance material that is durable, sustainable and 100% recyclable.
