NY NOW® Winter 2018

Katilu Press Release - January 2018

New homeware company Katilu will be presenting its inaugural Summer and Fall 2018 dinnerware lines at the NY NOW show in New York City this February.

The fast-fashion incomer applies trend driven designs on melamine and ceramic plates, bowls, trays, and cups to help customers create mix-and-match tabletops at within-reach price points. Fresh colors and designs bring a sense of newness to all of their projects this season, including the debut Katilu line in select boutiques and retail partners this June, and private label collaborations with various partners for Fall 2018 and 2019.

Founder Sarah Vreeland has worked in product development and sales for close to a decade, allowing her to find the best global partners and resources to create her new product line. With her first baby on the way, there was no time like the present to start Katilu. “I have always been passionate about design, art, and food,” says Vreeland. “So when the opportunity came to start my own company that could somehow combine the three, I knew I had to take it. We’ve had a great response in the marketplace and look forward to bringing our first collection to customers this summer.”

Getting design inspiration from travels, her home-city of Brooklyn, and vintage textiles and furnishings, Vreeland brought style to the new line keeping her growing family in mind. “I wanted a product that I could use now and when my baby comes, so we started with the BPA-free melamine collection. It can withstand drops, dishwashers, and the mania of a newborn so people won’t have to decide between function and style.”

Vreeland already has plans to expand the line. She is sourcing textile mills to make everything from tea towels to curtains and working with developers on all-natural fragrances for candles, room sprays, and cosmetics. With retail sales for home on a 12.6% annual growth trajectory, there is no place Katilu and Sarah Vreeland can’t take this brand. “I am excited for the future of the company. We have already added ceramic dishes into the assortment, and have plans for new product lines in the works. I see a vision of a home by Katilu, from top to bottom, floor to floor, and bedroom to office. We plan to get there one season and collection at a time.”
