Northern Lights Celebrates their 40th Anniversary in 2018

Wellsville, NY │January 2018

Northern Lights is excited to announce that this year will mark the company’s 40th anniversary as a premier candlemaker and manufacturer.

In 1976, Andy & Tina Glanzman moved to Western NY to care for an aging friend. Bill lived a simple life in the hills of Wellsville, NY without electricity. It was there that they learned the love and art of candlemaking as they created candles each day to burn through the night. As they cared for Bill in his final years, Andy & Tina were inspired by his passion for life and simple pleasures. Bill loved to play the harmonica, his many animals and children. He understood that the path to true happiness does not lie in material wealth but in finding joy in everyday moments.

In 1978, the founders took Bill’s legacy for bringing joy and warmth into the world and started Northern Lights. The early years of the company began with candle sales at music festivals from the back of a VW bus, eventually growing to the 150+ employee company that is now located in Wellsville, NY. The company has seen several transformations over the years, evolving from handcrafted wax figures and novelty candles to designer artisan candles and accessories.

Now, the company is a local treasure, creating high quality candles and home décor fragrance accessories with an eye for simplistic style and a passion for trendy and unique design.
