The Aalsmeer, the Netherlands based company Hortus Supplies International were on a quest to find the best possible twine for vegetables. After considering several twines, they have found what they were looking for. Randor Cena, account manager North America explains:
“It took quite some time to find the perfect twine. We didn’t want to rush into making a decision. We’ve put a lot of time and effort in testing. From our point of view this is the best possible option. The softness and flexibility of the twine helps and protects the growth of the plant. Next to that the twine has a free-fall to avoid the twines to curl. We can ensure a top performance twine.
HSI noticed that the breaking strength of bio twine wasn’t sufficient for lots of growers. Especially the bio twine couldn’t last a full growing season. This caused severe damage to crops, as they fell on the ground. Randor continues: “At HSI we believe in sustainable horticulture. The bio twine is made of PLA material. The CO2 emission is lowered significantly and the use of fossil materials is decreased to a minimum.”
HSI will market two different types of Hortus Twine: traditional and bio. The strength of both twines is outstanding, we and the growers are excited!
