SoDak Labs is now accredited by the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) and is authorized to issue Orange and Blue International certificates for seed exports. Orange and Blue International seed certificates are recognized like a passport for seed to move seamlessly through international channels. The unique feature of SoDak’s accreditation in the United States is the ability to approve authorized samplers for automatic stream seed sampling. SoDak will begin training seed samplers for all types of sampling and approving facilities for seed stream sampling in early 2018.
For automatic stream sampling of seed, an authorized sampler will need to follow a procedure to verify that the equipment meets the requirements to collect seed samples for Orange International certificates. Laura Carlson, SoDak Lab’s Purity Lab Manager, will assist in helping samplers through this process.
Seed samples submitted for ISTA testing will be processed according to the International Rules for Seed Testing and certificates will be printed on individually numbered International certificates. An image of the Orange or Blue certificate will be available on the website and original certificates will be mailed. SoDak Labs is approved to test a wide range of species (maize, soybean, sunflower, sorghum, vegetables and other species) for purity, germination, tetrazolium, moisture and several other tests..
