Sherwin-Williams Introduces Ultra-CureĀ® MarGuardā„¢ Clear Topcoat and Forecast 2019 Flooring Trends

The Sherwin-Williams Company Industrial Wood Coatings division is pleased to announce the launch of its Ultra Cure® MarGuard™ Clear Topcoat, a high performance, UV-cure clear coat, which provides excellent durability and resistance to chemicals, stains, scratches, scuffs and abrasion for flooring. Available for coating wood, sheet vinyl and luxury vinyl tile flooring materials, it combines industry leading toughness with excellent clarity and smoothness.
The Ultra-Cure MarGuard Clear Topcoat bolsters Sherwin-Williams’ full line of UV coatings for flooring that reclaim easily, as well as custom products for unique applications. These include a range of durable primers, fillers, sealers and topcoats, all of which provide exceptional performance and a beautiful final appearance.

“Sherwin-Williams understands flooring manufacturers must maintain a balance between meeting customers’ needs for aesthetically pleasing and durable flooring while simultaneously overcoming operational challenges,” says Joe Kujawski, Global Marketing Director. “With the addition of Ultra-Cure MarGuard Clear Topcoat to our coatings line-up, we can help manufacturers identify an efficient and cost-effective solution that may not only boosts their bottom line, but can provide their customers with the beauty and strength they expect.”

In addition to the debut of Ultra-Cure MarGuard Clear Topcoat, Sherwin-Williams, through its Global Color & Design Center (GCDC) in Greensboro, NC, will reveal its flooring color trends forecast, which includes the introduction of three distinct color palettes: Volume Drivers, Designer Choice and Exotic Customization.

Flooring Trends Color Palettes:
Volume Drivers
A fundamental palette featuring the most popular browns and grays, this collection highlights the ever-popular and essential finishes ideal for developing a foundational color offering while simultaneously generating volume.
Designer Choice
Up-and-coming deeper and more dimensional hues and finishes infuse this palette with a designer flare that supplements a basic finish offering for flooring manufacturers.

Exotic Customization
Intended to inspire a proprietary finish that is exclusive to your brand, these boutique finishes are a great starting point from which you can work with our GCDC color design professionals to build your own one-of-a-kind palette.
“From essential browns and grays that remain trusted standbys to more intricate designer finishes and hues, the flooring color trends we’re seeing meet the wide range of consumer demands,” said Lauren West, Global Color and Design Manager for Sherwin-Williams Industrial Wood Coatings.

The color and design experts at the GCDC evaluate color palettes to ensure comprehensive color offerings, provide hands-on finish training and color styling, offer solutions to save steps in the finishing process, and help customers gain a better understanding of the critical role finish plays in product design.

“We are dedicated to uncovering trends and consumer preferences, as well as new application techniques,” said West. “For flooring manufacturers, we recognize the vital role color plays in developing and elevating robust palette options for customers. Through our forecast and other services offered at the GCDC, we make it easier for them to go to market with the right finishes, customized to fit the dual need of both beauty and durability.”
